1st Day of Preschool

Well, the day finally arrived. Miss Alexandra Lane Powers, age 30 months, is going to preschool. She was sooo excited! Alex woke up this am saying "I go to school now?" Her backpack is monogrammed "Alex". :) So original.

She couldn't wait to get into "mommy's car".

Ya Ya Juna came with us. Here is the front entrance to Country Day School in McLean.

Alex's class is called the "Polar Bears". 9 students in the class: 5 boys and 4 girls.

Miss Jen and Miss Carolina welcomed everyone.

Here is the picture her teachers took of her last week. Its on "her" hook".

Serious learning time. HA.

Little Gym with Grandpa and Aunt Anita

Mom Here. Aunt Anita visited us from NYC for the weekend. We had fun doing girly things like shopping together and then went to Alex's "Big Beasts" class at Little Gym on Sunday am. Grandpa went too. Alex has stronger arms than all of us!

Meet my teachers

Ms. Jen and Ms. Carolina came over to my house to meet me this morning! There will be 9 kids (all within 6 months of my age) total in my class and we'll be called the "Polar Bears". They even brought 2 stuffed polar bears with them (see pictures). They told me all about what would happen when I start pre-school next week at Country Day School in McLean. Mom goes for parent orientation tomorrow and then my first day is next Thursday.

I even showed them my room and we looked at pictures. Ms. Jen and Ms. Carolina were very nice and I'm glad they are going to be my teachers.

Sunday Brunch with Anita

We had brunch before saying goodbey to Aunt Anita. I didn't want to smile for the camera until I had been served my pancakes.
My pancakes were yummy! Here I am with Anita. We had a great time!

Baltimore Aquarium

Mom here. Aunt Anita visited us for the weekend from NYC. On Saturday we went to the Baltimore Aquarium. Here we are wearing our "3-D" glasses.
We loved the dolphin show. Alex had never seen real live dolphins, sharks, or sting rays before and she had the best time. (Warning: do not let any child under 5 watch the 4D show...its actually scary!)

Ice Cream

These are two completely un-retouched and unstaged photos of a 2.5 year old child who is almost done eating an ice cream cone. Yum.

Summer fun

Here I am petting Ella's kitty "Finnbar". He got scared of me. I don't know why. All I did was chase him and try to hug him. Then he got mad and pushed me away with his paws and scratched my face. Mom said the kitty can't talk and he was trying to tell me that he didn't want to play just then, but he didn't mean to hurt me. My owies felt better after mom gave me a popsicle. Ella and I have our own backyard pool.

I am a gardener in training.

Grandpa's Day (aka Father's Day)

Hi, it's me Alex. We celebrated a belated Father's Day with Grandpa. We went for dinner and Grandpa had all kinds of specialty beers. I ate pizza!

Final Iowa Pix

Mom here. Lots of fun photos from our trip. Juna rode in the trailer below and pretended she didn't just turn "40". We had friends over for dinner. Reid and Alex are the same age and have been friends since they were 3 months old.
Alex loved playing the drums in the barn.

Uncle Jack was her favorite playmate.

Alex got to kiss her duckling good night.
Playing with the toes was a crowd pleaser.

The house was built by my great, great grandfather between 1902 - 1905.
Looking down on the Upper Iowa River from a park in Decorah. See, not so flat here. Had to get some swinging time in.

More riding in the Cub Cadet and looking at everything. Note the pajamas...country living has its advantages.

We had a lot of fun with family and friends in Iowa. Alex got to hold a frog, duckling, chicks, and multiple cats. She picked strawberries, helped granny in the yard, rode the golf cart, rode the Cub Cadet, saw a baby owl, played a lot, ate tons of junk food thanks to granny, and had a blast.
